Gap Beach

Easy reasonably flat 200m walk from either North or South access tracks. The National Park beach is 400 metres long with rock pools at the southern end at low tide. It provides good protection from winds due to the shape of the tall scenic hills behind the beach. The beach is only 6km from the centre of town. Vehicle access is via a 2km drive on a dirt road. High humps on the road to reduce ruts by rain make it difficult but not impossible for sedans, however 4wd & SUV with clearance are preferred for the conditions. Toilets are provided at the Southern end. No showers or fresh water. Ideal for surfing at the southern end. No lifeguards at this beach, so exercise caution when swimming.
