Rye Harbour Nature Reserve Beach

The beach is shingle with sand at low tide. We visited during high summer season and saw very few people. Beware of two issues, there can be quite a cool sea breeze here and also the tide comes in very quickly. Do not swim near Rye Harbour as the currents can be dangerous there but toward the Winchelsea end. Park at the beach end of Smeaton Lane and the take the path between the Nature Reserve and the beach. After about 300 metres you will see a Stone retaining wall on your right, when this finishes after 600 metres go on to the beach, this is the nude area. There were a small number of nudists there, you can use the groynes for some privacy and as shelter against any wind.
